Windsor, April 28, 2025 — The Windsor Essex Chamber of Commerce is delighted to have the support of our Chamber network partners for our policy resolutions submitted for the Ontario Chamber of Commerce’s (OCC) 2025-2028 Policy Compendium. These resolutions covered our leading-edge mold-making industry and essential trucking sector.
The Chamber submitted two policy resolutions for consideration at this year’s OCC Annual General Meeting. The Chamber resubmitted its Support for the Trucking Sector resolution calling for more support for trucking firms and measures to help improve the sector’s workforce. The Chamber’s other resolution is entitled Red Seal Certification Status for Mold Makers. This resolution requests the Province of Ontario to follow a similar model of certification to that of Quebec whereby the province allows mold makers to be certified under the same designation as tool & die makers. Further the resolution asks the provincial government to work with the federal government to expedite Red Seal Certification for the trade.
“These resolutions are targets to support the future growth of the mold making and trucking sectors,” noted Donally. “Certification status for mold makers and the supports advocated for the trucking sector will help attract more people into those vital industries that are both experiencing challenges attracting new and younger workers.”
The Chamber was also proud to be co-sponsors for two other resolutions from our Chamber network partners. Those resolutions were Act to Strengthen and Diversify Ontario Trade Relations (from the Greater Niagara Chamber) and Unlocking Ontario’s Growth: Provincial Infrastructure Investment to Boost Agriculture and Housing (from the ChathamKent Chamber). These resolutions speak to key issues not only for the Ontario economy but for the Windsor-Essex region as well.
The 2025-2028 OCC Policy Compendium will be released in the coming weeks. Once completed the compendium is sent to the Premier’s office and relevant ministers to inform them of the policy asks of the business community across the province.
