Port Windsor
Windsor Port Authority, commonly known as Port Windsor, is a major inland port located in Windsor on the Detroit River, part of the Great Lakes–St. Lawrence Seaway System. Established as a Canada Port Authority on July 1, 1999 under the Canada Marine Act, it replaced the Windsor Harbour Commission with a modern mandate to manage federal lands, promote trade, and support economic development in the Windsor‑Essex region.
Port Windsor functions as a vital transportation and logistics hub, connecting Canadian and international markets through marine, rail, and road networks. It is the third‑largest Canadian Great Lakes port by shipment volume, handling a diverse range of cargo including aggregates, salt, grain, steel, petroleum, and other bulk products.
The Authority operates without federal funding, generating revenue through leases, cargo fees, and permits, and works to foster sustainable economic growth while ensuring environmental stewardship and community engagement. Strategic positioning near major highways and railways, coupled with its marine capacity, makes Port Windsor a critical gateway for regional and international trade.

NFP
“We’re celebrating a remarkable 150‑year legacy and our valued partnership with the Windsor Essex Chamber of Commerce. We’re proud to honour this milestone together.”
For nearly a century, NFP, an Aon company, has been deeply rooted in Windsor’s business community. Our story began in 1931, when brothers Clifford and Clayton Blonde founded Blonde Insurance Agency. Through the decades, the business evolved, becoming Blonde and Little Insurance Ltd. in the 1960s, and later joining with three other Ontario brokerages to form PBL Insurance Limited. In 2019, PBL became part of NFP and, in 2024, NFP proudly joined Aon, strengthening our ability to deliver global expertise with local focus.
While our name has changed over the years, our commitment to the Windsor Essex Chamber of Commerce has never changed. As one of the Chamber’s longest-standing members, our support includes decades of active involvement. Across generations, current and former team members have served on committees and boards, championing initiatives that strengthen the local business community.
Today, NFP continues this tradition with pride. As the Official Insurer of the Windsor Essex Chamber of Commerce, we support members through the Chamber’s exclusive group home and auto insurance program and provide trusted commercial insurance options to help local businesses stay resilient. We are honoured to celebrate this remarkable 150‑year milestone together.
